8x30 Mobile Tornado Shelter Rental EF-5 Rated Storm Shelter

The TornadoLock™ CSB3008 Rents as a Transportable 250 MPH Storm Shelter for 47 to 80 People.

Rated to shelter 47 people at FEMA occupancy and up to 80 at maximum capacity, the TornadoLock™ CSB3008 is a transportable 8′ × 30′ solid-steel storm shelter available for rent. Its integrated ballast base anchors with helix augers or concrete piers, so it deploys without a poured slab and relocates when the oil and gas project moves. Two 36-inch ICC 500 certified exit doors provide code-compliant egress, and the unit is certified to FEMA P-361 and ICC 500 and rated for EF-5 winds up to 250 MPH.

01 — Overview

The CSB3010: a 30 x 10 rental shelter for 100.

300 sq ft of welded steel protection on an integrated transport base, engineered to FEMA P-361 and ICC-500 criteria for EF-5 events at 250 MPH. The 10-foot width gives a squarer interior than our long-format units, protecting a full shift on sites where a narrower footprint would feel cramped.

  • 300 sq ft
  • EF-5 / 250 MPH
  • Rental / Transport Base
02 — Entry

Two storm doors, sized to the occupant load.

Both entry points are ICC-500 code-compliant and debris-impact rated, with three stainless sliding locks apiece, six total, every one operated from inside. The shelter cannot be locked from the outside, and it's rated to remain operable after impact so nobody is sealed in waiting on rescue.

  • Two Egress Doors
  • Debris-Impact Rated
  • Six Interior Locks
03 — Inside

300 sq ft — 60 by FEMA design, 100 at capacity.

Occupancy runs off the FEMA and ICC-500 formula: 5 sq ft per person for design, 3 sq ft per person at maximum. Bench seating is integrated into the shell rather than added after, high-grit flooring handles wet boots, and ADA full-size access doors are standard per ICC-500.

04 — Power

Off-grid solar lighting, no hookup required.

Roof-mounted solar and a backup battery keep the interior lit through a grid outage, so the CSB3010 works whether or not the building beside it still has power. Steel-plate-shielded vents meet ICC-500 net-free-area for natural ventilation while resisting debris and wind-driven rain.

  • Solar + Battery
  • Shielded Vents
  • Grid-Independent
05 — Build

One continuous welded shell, not an assembly of panels.

1/4-inch structural steel plate in ASTM A36 and A572, solid-welded across wall, roof, and floor, with an interior truss system engineered for extreme load at 250 MPH. This is not a converted shipping container or a light-gauge storm box; the engineering is independently third-party reviewed against published standards.

  • 1/4-Inch Steel Plate
  • Solid-Weld Construction
  • FEMA P-361
06 — Deploy

Rental placement, no cure time on your site.

The CSB3010 ships on its own transport base and sets on prepared grade — no poured foundation, no cure time before it's ready for occupancy. Add CS units later to phase capacity as headcount grows, a modular path that beats over-building a single site-constructed safe room up front.

Why it's different

A no-nonsense premium shelter.

Engineered to the standard, not to a price point. This is not a converted shipping container or a light-gauge storm box.

Engineered & verified

Designed to FEMA P-361 and ICC-500 criteria for EF-5 / 250 MPH events, with engineering independently third-party reviewed.

Welded steel plate

A ¼" welded steel envelope in structural ASTM A36 / A572 — built to resist wind-borne debris, the true killer in a violent tornado.

Capacity does the math

300 sq ft yields 60 FEMA-design / 100 maximum occupants, served by 2 code-compliant doors and engineered ventilation — no guesswork.

Deploy fast, relocate

An integrated transport base ships, places, and protects without a poured foundation — ideal for rentals, field ops, and phased build-outs. Nationwide.

One platform, many missions

EF-5 shelter, large-hail and high-wind refuge, and a hardened multi-use field facility — all in a single unit.

Inside the build

Structure, doors & interior systems.

Structure & materials

  • ¼" welded steel plate — fully welded wall, roof, and floor forming a continuous hardened shell.
  • Structural-grade steel — ASTM A36 and A572, selected for strength, weldability, and impact toughness.
  • Solid-weld construction with an integrated interior structural steel truss system, engineered for extreme-load capacity to ICC-500 / FEMA P-361 at 250 MPH.
  • The integral framing is sized to preserve usable interior floor area.

Door & access system

  • 2 code-compliant entry/egress doors, sized to ICC-500 egress for the occupant load.
  • Six 1″ stainless sliding locks (three per door), interior-operated — no exterior lock; it can’t be locked from outside.
  • Rated to remain operable after a design event so occupants can self-evacuate.
  • Factory standard TornadoLock™ “Storm Shelter” decal, ENTER HERE notice, and wayfinding directional access arrows.

Ventilation, lighting & interior

  • Natural ventilation to ICC-500 net-free-area, using shielded vents that resist debris and wind-driven rain.
  • Solar-charged LED lighting with battery backup for illumination through grid loss.
  • Integrated bench seating for comfort during shelter-in-place.
  • ADA-compliant full-size access doors standard, with accessible provisions per ICC-500 §502.

Multi-use

A shelter that earns its keep every day.

The same sealed steel envelope that stops 250 MPH debris keeps out rain, hail, heat, and cold — so the CSB3010 doubles as a hardened field asset between storms.

Optional electrical service

Add lighting, outlets, and equipment power to turn the unit into a working field station.

Optional climate control

Heating/cooling provisions create a warm-up / cool-down station for crews in extreme heat or cold.

Always on-site, always ready

Because it’s already the crew’s break room, it’s staffed and occupied the moment the sirens sound — zero travel time to shelter.

Deployment

Permanent or rental. Nationwide.

Permanent or rental

  • Available as a CSB Series rental for temporary and field deployments.

Tornado Shelter Features

Feature Design, Components & Accessories

Scroll through the engineered features that protect your people — from the welded steel envelope to the anchorage that keeps the CSB3010 planted through an EF-5 event.

01 — Feature

EF-5 Tornado Shelter

300 sq ft of welded steel protection on an integrated transport base, engineered to FEMA P-361 and ICC-500 criteria for EF-5 events at 250 MPH. The 10-foot width gives a squarer interior than our long-format units, protecting a full shift on sites where a narrower footprint would feel cramped.

02 — Feature

Ventilation

US Tornado Shelter units are engineered to ICC-500 and FEMA P-361 compliant air circulation and ventilation requirements for each shelter's occupant load.

03 — Feature

Integrated Transport Base

The CSB3010 ships on its own transport base, so there is no poured foundation and no cure time on your site. The unit is set on prepared grade and leveled, which is what makes a rental deployment possible in the first place.

04 — Feature

Solar Panels

These panels charge the emergency battery backups for our interior solar lighting. This ensures your lights are ready anytime they're needed.

05 — Feature

Storm Rated Access

Our heavy steel storm rated doors have been impact tested and approved to meet EF-5 tornado rated protection.

06 — Feature

Structural Steel Frame

Each door is heavy gauge 1/4-inch plate steel construction with added structural reinforced framing across the door for extra security and impact safety.

07 — Feature

1-Inch Stainless Steel Security

Each access door has three (3) 1-inch stainless steel sliding security locks. These locks ensure no debris impact will shudder the door open in an extreme tornado event.

08 — Feature

Bench Seating

Integrated bench seating is standard in all our shelters, running along both side walls as a comfort feature when occupied. A rental unit is built to the same interior specification as a purchased one.

09 — Feature

High-Grip Surface

The same high-grit surface is used on the interior floor as on the exterior transport base foundation. This helps occupants keep traction when entering and repositioning inside the unit if shoes or surface become wet.

10 — Feature

High Strength Protection

Beyond the 1/4-inch solid plate steel shell, our shelters use premium steel reinforced structural trusses throughout, creating extreme load bearing capacity for impact, debris, and extreme conditions.

11 — Feature

Handrails

On both sidewalls you'll find handrails helping standing occupants find comfortable positions and support without coming into contact with the external shell wall.

12 — Feature

Solar Lighting

Our shelters come standard with battery backup solar lighting for off-grid emergency use.

13 — Feature

Exit Sign

Emergency lit exit signage is standard at each access door on our tornado shelters.

14 — Feature

Privacy Screen

A privacy screen for the emergency toilet facilities is provided in each shelter with toilet facilities.

15 — Feature

Emergency Toilet

Emergency toilet facilities are available for any unit and included standard on larger capacity shelters.
